31 Mar Site visit at the Servus Community Arena in Bow Island
Site visits are rare these days! That’s why we are even more excited to be able to take you along to visit Doug Conquergood at the Servus Community Arena (SCA) in Bow Island, AB.
Doug has been in charge of the arena ice maintenance there for the past 33 years and he knows a thing or two about ice. The SCA is a 60plus – year-old rink with little insulation; they installed the REALice floodwater system earlier this season but the earlier COVID-19 shutdowns prevented him from finding his sweet spot.
On this tour, Doug shares a little bit of the history of his ice arena and the recent changes that have been made once they started using REALice.
Not to spoil the tour but here are three key takeaways:
1.) His ice was excellent before, now it is even better
2.) His floodwater ran at 160°F and is now 55°F
3.) His brine temperature before was at 21°F, now it is up to 24°F.
We’re excited about what Doug is achieving and he’s getting TONS OF ON-ICE COMPLIMENTS and says the LINES ARE STAYING SHINIER.
Come along to Bow Island with us and dive into this 9-minute conversation with Doug Conquergood at the Servus Community Arena.
