03 Dec Saanich News: REALice system expected to cut 36t of GHG emissions annually
December 3rd, 2019 – Saanich News reports on the District of Saanich’s purchase of a second REALice system for Pearkes Arena’s Green rink.
The District was able to benefit from the FortisBC rebate which offered a refund of $20,000 for the system. The rebate applies to indoor rinks that are resurfaced regularly and maintained with a hot water system that uses natural gas.
Saanich News highlights Saanich’s efforts to reduce GHG emissions by municipal operations by 50 per cent of the 2007 levels – 752 tonnes – by 2030.
The District expects the new REALice systems at the Green rink to cut 36 tonnes of GHG emissions annually.
