August 7th, Powell River, BC – The Powell River Peak reported on technology upgrades to save energy and cost at the Powell River Recreation Complex.
The REALice system is one these energy upgrades.
Neil Pukesh, City Manager of Recreation states in the article that staff members have been impressed with the new ice that was recently put in.
Pukesh adds that it is probably the nicest and cleanest looking sheet of ice that he has ever seen installed.
The Powell River Rec Complex formerly used water temperatures of approximately 60 degrees Celsius to resurface and build the ice. With the REALice system, the temperature has been reduced to 15 degrees Celsius.
