When Billy Creber first heard about REALice, he wanted nothing to do with it.
“We were told cold-water resurfacing could never give you the same ice,” Billy recalls. He even campaigned against buying the system.
But once it was installed and the ice went in, everything changed.
Seeing is believing
At industry events, Billy noticed something:
“The operators bragging about having the best ice were all using REALice — and now I’m one of them.”
His arena isn’t perfect — aging dehumidifiers, fluctuating indoor temperatures — but since switching to REALice, the headaches are gone.
“Before, starting up the ice when it was 30°C outside was a nightmare,” he says. “Keeping it hard through the beer leagues was even worse. Now, with REALice, it’s no problem at all.”
Harder, faster ice — even in summer
Billy builds ice at 23°F, even in summer heat, and visiting teams keep complimenting how fast and solid the surface feels.
“Old guys like me don’t want to admit we were wrong after all these years,” Billy laughs. “But we were. It’s a great product — and nobody would regret getting it.”
