Alberta’s finest ice

For the annual Treaty 8 Cup, the ice at Slave Lake needs to be fast, smooth, and durable. To meet these demands while lowering natural gas usage, the facility adopted REALice.

Supported by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre, Slave Lake’s transition to sustainable ice making has been documented as a provincial success story. The MCCAC case study highlights how the facility accessed over $95,000 in total funding to modernize its operations. The report validates the REALice installation as a key driver in reducing the facility’s natural gas consumption while maintaining its reputation for having “Alberta’s finest ice”.
