23 Mar REALice? It’s a “no-brainer” if you want to save money and have great ice
We don’t usually talk about the REALice® installations in the USA, but this one is rather important. Larry Bruyere is the arena manager at Ice in Paradise in Goleta, California and he’s been an ice maker for over 30 years. When his twin-pad opened 16 months ago, Larry had REALice installed, and now he’s a believer in cold-water resurfacing with REALice.
Why?
“Because we believe in the product,” Bruyere says. “REALice is a no-brainer if you want to save money and have great ice too.”
REALice takes the place of needing to use extremely hot water for resurfacing by removing the micro air bubbles from the resurfacing water. The energy saved can mean a good chunk out of your natural gas and electricity bills.
Without any additives, chemicals, wasted water or other energy sources necessary, the REALice system removes hot water from the ice resurfacing process. Those savings begin as soon as the system is installed and they continue, month after month, season after season. As for your ice? It will be smooth, hard and clear — and your user groups will be impressed.
Ice that Recovers Quickly
What really impresses Bruyere about REALice — besides the energy he’s saving — is how his ice recovers so quickly after a heavy workout.
“Our ice is repairing and setting up so much better than what I used to see before REALice. In fact, it seems to repair itself quicker,” Bruyere says. “Our ice makers work hard to make great ice and when the big guys tear it up, it bounces back quickly,” he says. “We know we have great ice, and that’s a direct result of the REALice system.”
The Ice in Paradise team only uses cold tap water for resurfacing, run through the REALice system before being put down on the ice.
